Meet the

Good Food Merchants Collaborative

The country’s leading independently-owned markets

About

The Good Food Merchants Collaborative offers the highest level of engagement and support in the Good Food Foundation work, a tight-knit group of the country’s leading independently-owned markets, committed to supporting American craft food producers and a flourishing landscape of grocers, markets and specialty shops across the country.

The Collaborative began when the owners of twelve markets from Chicago to D.C. to Philadelphia decided to unite and provide underwriting for the Good Food Awards, becoming its first Presenting Sponsor and safeguarding its future. It quickly evolved from a group of forward thinking sponsors to a community that meets four times a year to share best practices and friendship; discover great food crafters; and work together to use their unique position at the intersection of supply and demand to build a better food system.

While the group has grown over the years, it is envisioned as always remaining intimate in size, with a maximum of 35 members, conducive to in person sharing and developing relationships between owners in diverse locales confronting the same challenges, and with the same goals of being agents of change, strong community members, and thriving businesses.

Members make a three-year commitment of time, expertise and resources, and become part of the core Good Food Foundation community, advise on strategic direction, presenting at the Good Food Awards, and developing unique connections to the Good Food crafter community.
